Question by ny: Should I accept an offer of free vacation?
I am not young, and recent events lowered my income substantially.
Some time ago I received a letter from a forgotten acquaintance who offered me a free vacation on the famous Indian Island. The letter was signed Mrs. or Miss Oliver, I could not decipher the name.
The house on the Indian Island was built years earlier by a rich American, then abandoned after the death of his wife in a boating accident. Gossip and rumours now surround the place, and the newspapers alternately suggest that the Island has been purchased by a movie star, the military, Royalty, or even an equally mysterious Mr. Owen. It must be a wonderful place, all luxury and renovation, and I do need a vacation, but can’t afford it. Should I accept though I do not recollect that particular friend of mine who invited me?

NO. It could be a set up of some kind. Sounds like the beginning of a horror movie to me.
