Playboy’s August 2008 cover girl, Ashley Harkleroad, didn’t play in the US Open because she is pregnant, her agent confirmed to the New York Post.

Ashley Harkleroad, Playboy Cover model for August 2008, is now knocked up!

Ashley Harkleroad left before the draw, with her reps saying she had a “back problem”, the Women’s Tennis Association stated.

“It is true – she is pregnant,” said agent Sam Duvall, adding that “she does plan to come back to the tour.

Harkleroad, 23, and her fiancé, former tennis pro Charles Adams, live in Los Angeles.

Ashley was ranked 91st in the world among tennis players, so not too great at tennis. But she was able to take her clothes off for Playboy and raked in $250,000. Not too shabby for a sucky tennis player!

“It was mostly positive,” Duvall said about the World Tennis Associations reaction to the Playboy photos. “They liked the publicity.”

In a statement, the WTA said: “The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour markets and promotes our players based on their on-court athleticism and competitiveness, as well as their off-court charisma. That is what we focus on when it comes to promoting our players and sport as a whole.

“That said, as in any sport, individual athletes make individual decisions regarding their own brands and how they wish to market and promote themselves. This includes which media they decide to do or not do.”

Congrats to Ashley Harkleroad on her pregnancy!
