2. “I come from this really small town near Nashville, Tennessee, where everything was la-di-da and normal.”

3. “As soon as I read the script (for Hannah Montana), I knew it kinda related to me. I wanted to disguise myself as not some celebrity’s daughter, just be me and find people that like me for me.”

4. “If you believe in yourself anything is possible.”

5. “It’s been an insane year. I watched my dad doing this my whole life, and then it was my turn to step up to the plate and follow in his footsteps. 8. “I’m not letting any stupid decisions get in my way. I want to be a role model, letting girls know that they can follow their dreams.”

9. “Some of the fanmail is interesting! Some of it’s the lyrics to the songs and stuff, and they’ll like, send me their favorite lines, which is cool to…know what people are liking. Most of them are really cool to read.”

10. “With yourself, I think you have to decide the kind of person that you really want to be, and for me, it’s just a sweet girl.”

THE WORLD CELEBRATES 9JA ‘LEMAR’

THE WORLD CELEBRATES 9JA ‘LEMAR’

Remember a few years back when folks were having a laugh about great celebrities actually being Nigerians? I remember them saying that Celine Dionâ??s real name was Selena Odion and that she was from Bendel Stateâ?¦ yeaâ?¦ I know how stupid that sounds; you donâ??t have to remind me okay? Well the truth is that during that time, there was a silent cry for something or someone Nigerians could be proud of. It was a time when Nigeria and Nigerians craved for some recognition, some appreciation, some celebration done by the outside world, beyond our shores for something that came from US. It was a time before the likes of Tuface and Dâ??banj walking away with the MTV Base Act of the year. It was a time before international collabos were done by our people, before songs from a lowly Yoruba girl became soundtracks to international movies and sitcoms.

Hmmâ?¦ I believe the good book says, â??My people perish from lack of knowledgeâ??. A few write ups ago, I put up an article titled, the world celebrates Naija and the personality up for celebration was our very own Sade Adu. Before that article, quite a number of people did not know that Sade was a Nigerian. Dugh! Wellâ?¦ in todayâ??s article, I am going to shock yâ??all with another truth.

This absolutely hot and sexy hazel-eyed brother was born in London to both South- eastern Nigerian parents, listening to soul music and R&B. Lemar Obika professionally known as Lemar was born in Tottenham, London, England and is a British soul, R&B singer, songwriter and vocal producer who has had a run of chart success in the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia.

Lemar used to sing at home with his brothers and sister, pretending to be The Jacksons. He was seventeen when he had his first concert at the Junior Jam at the Temple in Tottenham supporting Usher. He gave up an opportunity to study pharmacy at the Cardiff University to pursue a musical career. Lemar had some success supporting various artists such as Destiny’s Child, Total, Uncle Sam and Usher Raymond on their UK club tours and after some years, managed to secure a recording contract with BMG. Following this, he released his debut single “Got Me Saying Ooh”. Unfortunately his record deal with BMG fell through in less than a year due to restructuring at the record label. He had to eventually take a job working as an accounts manager at NatWest in Enfield, north London.

Lemar was most notably brought to public attention on the BBC’s Fame Academy in 2002, a combination of a talent quest and reality television show. He made the finals of the show winning plaudits for his version of “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green and singing a duet with Lionel Richie on “Easy”. While he ended up finishing third in the show, which was won by David Sneddon, he caught the eye of fellow British soul singer Beverley Knight, who invited him to sing a duet with her during her concert at the Hammersmith Apollo. Sony Music was so impressed with his potential that they signed him to a five year record deal worth £1 million (One million pounds). He was also the contestant from Fame Academy chosen to represent the UK in Eurobest, coming 5th (the eventual winner being Chenoa from Spain.

You probably canâ??t remember who beat Lemar on Fame Academy in 2002, because the real winner was the man who came third- and who has become the best black British male soul singer of recent years. With two Brit awards and three Mobos, Lemar has established a career with legs. He can pack a concert tour, and he has sold more than two million albums. Oh, and in case you are interested: the winner was David Sneddon. Remember him?

Well as awards, acclaim, platinum sales and sold-out tours, the North London singer/songwriter is one of a handful of artists able to balance incredible commercial success whilst maintaining credibility as one of the best ever UK vocalists. Lemar’s second single “Dance (With U)” reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in early 2003. His first album Dedicated was released late in 2003 with additional singles “50/50″ and “Another Day” also achieving chart success in the UK. Lemar won a BRIT Award for “Best Urban Act” in 2004. Following the success of the album, he commenced his first headlining tour of the UK.

On the 12th of November 2004 Lemar became a guest on BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge and performed a cover of U2′s song “Vertigo”. He has also performed for Prince Charles’ Prince’s Trust. He is also one of the many artists included on Band Aid 20′s single “Do They Know It’s Christmas? â??

In February 2006, he won a second BRIT Award for “Best Urban Act”.

4th September 2006 saw Lemar return with his eighth single, entitled “It’s Not That Easy”, which became his sixth UK top ten hit. A week later his new album The Truth About Love was released, which saw guest appearances from Styles P from The L.O.X., Mica Paris and Joss Stone. The album became Lemar’s highest charting album to date, peaking at number three on the UK Albums Chart, out peaking Time to Grow (number eight) and Dedicated

Lemar’s 4th studio album “The Reason” was released on November 24th 2008, entering the UK Albums Chart at no. 41. Lead single “If She Knew” was released on 10 November 2008 and has peaked on the UK Singles Chart at no. 14.

Lemar will also feature on Sway’s first single “Saturday Night Hustle” from the album â??The Signature LP”.

On the 19th January 2008, MSN UK reported that Lemar became a father for the first time with his long term partner Charmaine Powell, who gave birth to a baby girl called Nyiema Obika at London’s private Portland hospital weighing 7 lb.

As of May 2009 he had accumulated wealth of £4 million (Four Million pounds) at the age of 31… hmmâ?¦ sound so good Iâ??m gonna say it againâ?¦ FOUR MILLION POUNDS! You gotta give a brother some credit. He is doing pretty well for himself. Now you knowâ?¦ we do have something to be proud of.

Lemar is also about to spearhead the In The Pink breast cancer campaign, an issue that is particularly close to his heart. â??My mum passed away just before Dance (With U) and that was definitely my lowest point,â? he says of losing his mother. â??Anything to do with cancer, I like to get involved and help in anyway I can. Knowledge is power, so the more people are aware of things, the quicker things can change,â? he decides. â??It was very hard losing my mother, but I know that sheâ??s watching. Life throws at you what itâ??s going to and you have to deal with it and make the most of it. All I can do is try and make her proud.â? Breaks your heart donâ??t it?

1000 Reasons To Celebrate India’s Independence

1000 Reasons To Celebrate India’s Independence

What you can never find in your mainstream news sources . . .

1000  REASONS TO CELEBRATE INDIA’s INDEPENDENCE !   Today the stakes are achingly high. An avian flu epidemic– whether engineered by a state and given to terrorists or created by them (the genetic code of the 1918 avian flu that killed 50 million persons has now been posted on the Internet) Or naturally occurring could strike India with an unprecedented velocity. Similarly a nuclear device detonated in any of our major cities could dwarf the casualties of Hiroshima. There could also be chemical and biological attacks simultaneously . These new threats have important implications for the survival of our country India.   Die hard patriots like Lokmanya Tilak, Chatrapati Shivaji, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Veer Savarkar, Swami Vivekananda, Vallabhbhai Patel as also our parents and grand parents have all sacrificed in some way or the other to secure us and our lives in today’s Independent India. But somewhere down the line after Independence our ministers and politicians have betrayed us . . .

Unlike China India has been unable to provide a decent living, food, shelter, good roads etc to its citizens.Marketing and PR alone cannot hide away under the carpet the poverty stricken population of India OR the so many different factors loaded with intense emotions and sensitivities waiting to burst at the seams and spill out its guts and gore on the streets of India. The fact is that more than 60% of our population is living under the poverty line. After 62 years of Independence, most of it under the Congress rule, there are  1000 reasons to celebrate, here are a few of them . . .

A PRIME MINISTER BENDING BACKWARDS TO PLEASE A ENEMY COUNTRY ,  A UTTAR PRADESH WHICH HAS BECOME ANOTHER BIHAR, MURDERS OF SENIOR CITIZENS, DISAPPEARING JOBS, DROUGHT, WATER SCARCITY, LACK OF ELECTRICITY IN THOUSANDS OF VILLAGES, BAD ROADS, OVER CROWDED TRAINS( every day at least 4 persons are killed in the Mumbai local trains alone) THOUSANDS OF FARMERS HAVE COMMITTED SUICIDE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS , ATTACKS ON INDIANS IN AUSTRALIA, MAOISTS AND ISLAMIC TERRORISTS HAVE KILLED THOUSANDS, CHINESE MILITARY INTRUSIONS IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH, ADULTERATION OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS LIKE MILK, MEDICINES, GHEE, BISCUITS , TEA ETC, CONGRESS MP’s and MINISTERS ROUTINELY GO ABOUT SLAPPING PUBLIC OFFICERS, LAKHS & CRORES OF PAKISTANIS AND BANGLADESHIS COMING IN TO INDIA AND RESIDING HERE , NO SPACE TO PARK CAR’S AND BIKE’S ON THE ROADS, RAPES OF WOMEN  HAVE BECOME A NORM,, A FAULTY RESERVATION POLICY BASED ON RELIGION( sure fire recipe for disaster), CHILD ABUSE ON THE RISE, CASTE AND LANGUAGE BASED CONFRONTATIONS, WOMEN BEING STRIPPED AND BEATEN ON THE ROADS, INITIATIVES LOST TO SETTLE DISPUTES IN OUR FAVOUR DURING THE 1965 AND 1971 WA R’S WITH PAKISTAN (the price of which we are paying till today), A GOVT AND ITS MACHINERY ALWAYS LACKING TO MEET CHALLENGES OF THE TERRORISTS, HUNDREDS DIE EVERY YEAR BECAUSE OF HUNGER, COLD AND RAINS, NAXALISM ON THE RISE,  RUPEES 1,69,000-00 CRORES OF COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY IN CIRCULATION, NO AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS, KANDHAR, KARGIL, PARLIAMENT ATTACKS, TERRORIST ATTACKS ON OUR TEMPLES AND COURTS, MUMBAI 1993 BOMB BLASTS, TRAIN BLASTS AND 26/11(and more to come), CORRUPTION SPREAD RIGHT FROM THE TOP TO THE MAN ON THE STREET,  A NATIONAL AIRLINE INCURRING LOSS OF THOUSANDS OF CRORES , A STUPID NEHRU WHO BELIEVED THE CHINESE AND MADE INDIA LICK THE DUST FOR ALL TIME TO COME (1962 WAR), CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, CELEBRITIES AND POLITICIANS MAKING FALSE ALLEGATIONS ON THE CREDIBILITY OF THE COUNTRY , LACK OF MEDICAL CARE AND FACILITIES, A RAJ THACKERY PROPAGATING HATE TOWARDS FELLOW INDIANS, CRIMINALISATION OF POLICE, UNAFFORDABLE PRICES OF VEGETABLES AND PULSES, CAPITATION FEES IN COLLEGES , PETROL & DIESEL PRICES AMONG THE HIGHEST IN THE WORLD, A GOVT YET AGAIN FOUND SLEEPING – ON SWINE FLU  . . The list could go on and on.

Doesn’t it look like a uncontrollable horror story which is being played on the lives of the 130 crore Indian population, which is only getting scarier by the day and acquiring a momentum which if not stopped immediately could only prove our enemies right like the Chinese strategist website iiss.org , which propagates China to help breakup India in to 20 – 30 parts.   In the 1970′s China and India were equally poised but today China is leagues ahead of us, all successive gov ts never cared to create a good infrastructure for the country. Today we have our politicians of all party’s deeply imbibed in a five star culture of living, working, travelling and attending page 3 parties, least bothered about the plight of the citizens who have voted them. All of them lack the will and the courage to transform themselves from a  mere politician to a leader as today the country does not need a minister, the need of the hour is a LEADER. For eg – By not implementing the death sentence of Afzal Guru and other three terrorists involved in the Mumbai Gateway of India blasts the govt is encouraging hijacks, hostage crisis, bomb blasts etc , had Masood Azhar been given the capital punishment the Kandahar episode might not have occurred. Capital punishment therefore must be carried out in a timely fashion. Only then will it serve as a deterrent. As always we cannot expect this govt to rise to the occasion, these ministers have to willingly be ready to forsake their politics of vote banks, they should sacrifice their seats of power in the interest of the nation which only a Leader can – a minister cannot . History will never forgive them and neither will it forgive us for tolerating this. The sooner their masks come off the better, I only hope its not too late.Just forwarding my mails & articles is not enough.

Historical events even if they are evil occur by design for reasons that are not generally made known to the public, but are well known to those in power at the time.Franklin D. Roosevelt had been quoted as saying “IN POLITICS NOTHING HAPPENS BY ACCIDENT, IF IT HAPPENS IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY” If harmful events are planned , it follows that people who were about to suffer through the scheduled event would act to prevent the event from occurring if they knew about it in advance. The People expect the government to protect them from the harmful events.   But if the events still occur after the government officials and ministers had been expected to prevent them, the govt officials and ministers as well as the government has failed in their assigned duties. There are only two explanations as to why they failed.

1- The events overwhelmed them and could not have been prevented.

                                       OR

2-The events were allowed to occur because some officials and ministers wanted them to occur.    What ever success economically and in the field of science, medicine and engineering Indians have achieved is due to the sheer hard work and determination of the people to upgrade their standard of living .62 years is a long time to eradicate poverty, water, food and energy crises, give good roads and infrastructure, stop crimes on women and children etc etc. How is it possible that our gov ts have failed on each and every count mentioned in the fourth paragraph .There are a 1000 questions that we must ask ourselves on this Independence Day 15 August.2009 . Let us not go waste the sacrifices our forefathers made so that we and our children live happily and flourish in this Last Land of our Ancestors.

Who dies if India lives and who lives if India dies ? Think about it . . . OR Rather - Who lives if you die ?

Now it is upon us Not to allow this country to become the LOST LAND OF OUR ANCESTORS, I don’t have to remind you that what today is the Islamic Republic Of Pakistan, just 62 years back was INDIA . . . The Lost Land . . .

Q&A: Do you ever feel that some of those so-called stupid celebrities are actually intelligently manipulating us?

Question by Lord Arawn: Do you ever feel that some of those so-called stupid celebrities are actually intelligently manipulating us?
Okay, despite what it may sound like, this is kinda a philosophical as well as psychological question. I have been witness to both friends and strangers laughing and gossiping about the latest dim-witted antics of a lot of of different celebrities and reality-show contestants from various fields with various claims to fame. It seems strange to me that society would richly reward such idiocy. After all, the court jester wasn’t really paid very much during the middle ages, was he? And his life was often on the line.

So I’m thinking that there could be two explanations for the continued popularity of both established celebrities as well as reality show stars. The first is the audience’s ego. I’ve noticed that the people doing the laughing and jeering always seem to feel wonderful about the fact that these people are stupid. They love it, in fact. I realized that it may be because it fuels their own ego, their self-worth. It goes like this:”You guys may be rich and famous, but at least I have common sense and intelligence”. This makes them feel better about not having the money and fame the celebrities have.

The second is security. The saying goes:”I’d rather have to deal with a harmless idiot(celebrities don’t decide taxes, foreign policy, etc.) than an evil genius.” This makes us feel safer with them having all that money and influence.

But here’s the kicker. If those celebrities were really intelligent, they would use this psychology to manipulate us and prolong and further their own success and aims. They would act stupid in order to endear themselves to large sections of the audience, only alienating a small number who find such idiocy distasteful. Or their image consultants would advise them to. Politicians do it all the time.

So maybe they’re not really silly after all, but merely acting silly because that’s how a lot of people want them to be. Maybe we’re the fools who are being manipulated. Do you also feel like this? I also welcome other arguments for how silliness works or how I’m wrong and it doesn’t work at all. Thanks.

“I am Fabulous!” Embracing and Celebrating You!

“I am Fabulous!” Embracing and Celebrating You!

â??You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire Universe, deserve your love and affection.â?Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Buddha

â??And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.â?Â  Marianne Williamson

You are Fabulous!  Yes YOU are.  How do you feel when you hear that?  Do you respond, yes that is right, I am Fabulous. Or do you have a reaction that blocks you from taking this statement in fully.  If you are like most people you may not be able to take this in whole heartedly for various reasons.  One, it may interrupt your inner litany of you telling yourself all the ways that you are less than fabulousâ??all the ways that you are messing up in some way, falling short of yours or other peopleâ??s expectations.  You may have trouble taking in â??I am fabulousâ? because you fear if you do that other people will think your arrogant and self-centered.

Why Self-Love is So Important

1. Seeing your own beauty and light allows you to see others more clearly. The fear that people have when they first start working on self-love is that they confuse it with being self-centered and arrogant.   We all have within us an essence, a radiant Spirit that is filled with love, joy, creativity, compassion and beauty.  When you really get that and are able to see this within youâ??you are able to see it within everybody.  You can see beneath peopleâ??s protections of fear, negativity and anger and see the truth of who they are—the light of who they are.

2. Seeing your own Magnificence allows Good things into your Life- If you love and value yourself you will want good things for yourself and you will take action to bring these good things into your life.  An example is if you are in a job that you donâ??t love—if you cared about yourself and your happiness you would take action to find a job or career that you really love.  You wouldnâ??t allow yourself to be in an unloving situation in any area of your life.   All the things that you would want for a person you deeply loved, you would want these things for yourself too.

3. Seeing your own Fabulousness allows others to see that in you too-People tend to see us and treat us how we see and treat ourselves. If you really value yourself and treat yourself kindly other people will pick up on this energy and treat you well too. An example of this: Do you know people you would never say anything disrespectful to because they emanate a sense of self-confidence and self-respectâ??it is so clear you can feel it.

4. When you see your own Brilliance you become a role model for people to see their own Brilliance. Our own self-love has a positive ripple effect on othersâ??by providing a role model for healthy self-love and also energetically opening a space for people to love themselves just by being in our presence.

Ways to Love Yourself More

1.  Take responsibility for seeing your own worth and lovability- Do you realize that your worth and lovability is intact and unchanging?  Nothing you can do can ever take away from it—it is your intrinsic worth and can never be diminished.  There is nothing to be improved upon and enhancedâ??you already are brilliant and magnificent just as you are.  The real you, your Authentic Self, is here to just express itself fully and completely.

There is a distinction made between your Essence, who you really are– and your protective parts, your Ego. When you are in worry, judgment, fear, anxiety, depression, trying to controlâ??these are all protective parts of you. If you are operating out of your protective self most of the time, you wonâ??t feel the beauty of your essence and neither will those around you.   Once you know that you really are your essence, this beautiful lightâ??self-love is a natural consequence and you can relax and let this light shine!

2.  Eliminate Self-Judgment and replace with Self-Supportiveness and Self-Appreciation- Your level of self-love will be dependent on the kind of internal dialogue you are having with yourself.  We are all having inner conversations with ourselves throughout the dayâ??these conversations are either loving and supportive or critical and unloving.   The following are ways to shift to a more positive inner dialogue:

A.  Think of statements that you want to hear throughout the day and write these on a 3X5 index card. They could be statements like â??I love you just the way you areâ? â??Just be you, you are wonderfulâ? â??I love you no matter whatâ? â??Itâ??s OK to make mistakes, I will still love youâ? â??Let go of what others think of you-I think you are amazingâ? Use these statements with yourself during the day.

B.  Mirror back loving statements to yourself about who you are and how you handle things throughout the day. Examples of these statements are â??I  love the way you handled that situationâ? â??You are so loving and kindâ? You are so creative!â? â??You are such a good listenerâ? â??You are brilliantâ? â??You are sweetâ?.  Mirroring back the positive will help you reverse the pattern of being critical with yourself for every little thing you do.

C.  Talk back to the Critical Voice and bring in the Truth- If you catch yourself being critical respond back with a loving voice.  If you say to yourself â??Iâ??m so stupid, I canâ??t believe I just said thatâ?Â  you can respond back by saying â??Itâ??s OK, youâ??re not stupid, what you said was just fine, just relax and be yourself, let go what that person thinks of you, I love you no matter what.â?

D.  Write 5 Appreciations about yourself each night in your journal. This can be ways you handled certain situations, how loving you were with others, your creativity, the special unique qualities that are YOU!

3. Start a â??Celebration of Meâ? Journal- Get a beautiful journal that you can collect sweet notes and cards you receive from others.  When the people around you have their hearts open and are sharing love with youâ??they are seeing the beauty of your essence.  These loving cards and notes are reminders of who you really are and it can be helpful to have these in a lovely journal.  You can even jot down loving comments people make to you and you can add these to your journal.

4. Take Loving Actions on your own behalf- If you tell yourself you love and care about you but you treat yourself poorlyâ??your self-esteem will stay low.  You must take actions that reflect a deep love for yourself.  If you were to show love to yourself, you would exercise if you needed to lose weight, you would get to sleep early if you needed more rest, if your life was chaotic you would create balance, if you needed to leave an unhealthy relationship, you would leave it. Taking these loving actions can create a major shift in increasing your self-love significantly.

You are Fabulousâ??it is a givenâ??and it is up to you to see it for yourself. By doing this you will radically improve the quality of your life, your relationships and even pave the way for others to see their own Magnificence too!
